NZ GROUP's 1ST EP CD .....Here's KORA
KORA wrote all the songs
Wellington Band KORA are riding a wave of success. First they produced their own EP
and released it as a CD then one of their Songs was picked up by EMI for a Compilation
Album.Recorded at The Surgery Studios in Wellington, the album's artwork was
created by Josh Twaddle while Mu mastered the EP for them.
The group is a bit of a "family" affair with Laughton, Bradley, Francis and Stuart Kora being joined by Daniel McGruer on the keyboard and effects. Laughton Kora plays guitar as well as rendering the vocals. Francis Kora also vocalises as well as playing Bass. Bradley Kora pounds the drums and electric kit to ensure everyone stays "in time" and Stuart Kora plays guitar and helps with the effects featured throughout this EP. Another muscian appears on the track "Politician". Ricky plays the keyboard on this track only.
The distrubtors of the EP say it was so popular they ran out of stock very quickly. Fortunately we here at Wonderland can help if you want a copy for yourself. Look out for the EMI compilation CD called "Conscious Roots" (also in stock) for the KORA track "Barely Can See", which shares billings with such names as Katchafire, The Black Seeds, Che Fu, Fat Freddie's Drop and Salmonella Dub.
Popular music is by far the biggest catagory of modern recordings and there are a number of legends nobody forgets or tires of listening to. Music plays such a major part of our lives and songs and their singers often act as milestones to our own private lives. Who could ever forget Elvis, Elton John, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson or Frank
Sinatra - the man who did it His way.
Our Databases at GEMM, NETSOUNDS and MUSICSTACK are already loaded with many thousand of popular artists and titles. We are constantly receiving new titles almost daily so check out the "What's New" page often.
Little River Band's Singer, Wayne Nelson
Fronts A New Group In A "Moonlighting" Album -
OUT OF TIME "Round & Round"
Fred Schmitz & Wayne Nelson preparing material for Out Of Time's first Album
OUT OF TIME have been together for seven years now and the core of this
group is Wayne Nelson, the bassist and vocalist for The Little River Band and
Song Writer Fred Schmitz. The other members are a bunch who's names may
not mean a lot to many, but their CV's are impressive to say the very least.
Writing songs and recording "demonstration" cuts for Publishers and Record Companies
for ages now, the boys finaly decuded to issue a CD for us all to enjoy their music.
OUT OF (Little River Band's) TIME makes this moonlighter quite an ideal name but
in reality the meaning is more like, whew, we didn't run OUT OF TIME. Either way,
we're very pleased they did/didn't run OUT OF TIME because here is a real gem of a
CD. Being a Record Shop, we have the added advantage of getting the reactions from
a wide range of people (tastes). Here's what some of our Store Visitors said about this
CD, called "ROUND & ROUND" :
"Gee, are the Eagles back together?"
"Little River Band doing a Metallica and returning to their early style?"
"Little River Band! Definately - I know that voice very well."
"Hey, this is nice. What is it?"
The CD is very much like The Little River Band but since Wayne has written and sung
the leads on many Little River Band tracks, that's not surprising. They have, however, used
a different instrument line-up to give it a slightly Country feel - very slightly. This is solid,
chart making material and the change of instruments gives it a fresh sound. As for them
soundding like the Eagles? Well we didn't think so at first but after the comment was made,
we had to admit track 1 "Road To Nowhere" could have been recorded by The Eagles back in
the mid Seventies.

"Live" In NZ
HOLLIES "LIVE" ALBUM
RECORDED IN CHRISTCHURCH, N.Z.
We so often hear of new albums "recorded Live at..." New York, Carnegie Hall, London Palladium, in Detroit, Paris and even Hawaii but rarely do you come across a Supergroup who's "Live" album was recorded at places off the beaten track.
This album was recorded in Christchurch, in the South Island of New Zealand during one of their Tour concerts. Engineered by NZ's top technicians and producers who brought us Shane, The Simple Image, Formyula, Alison Durban and Mr Lee Grant. In true Kiwi style, this
information only surfaces when the listener removes the disc from it's cover to find a inner, full colour inner cover which modestly states it was recorded in NZ. This is definately one of the most "interesting" albums issued by The Hollies.
DAVID BOWIE 1970's COMPILATION
Issued in Australia and New Zealand on the Star Call label, this album covers the full 1970's Decade - passing through the various "images" of David Bowie. CHAMELEON is a splendid mix of Bowie at his best -
"Heroes", "Sorrow", "Starman", "Diamond Dog", "1984", "Boys Keep Swinging", "D.J.", "Beauty And The Beast", "V-2 Schneider", "Look Back In Anger", "Looking Glass" and "Aladdin Sane". The back cover is as interesting as the front.

Ever seen a New Zealand Apple before? Oh so green, so fresh - you feel you can just pick it up and eat it!
The Apple design is known Worldwide but just as Kiwi Collectors have never seen the UK red, green and blue backgrounds, most people outside New Zealand have never seen this black background.
The original design concept is realized here for the apple really looks like it's real and just placed on top of the record. Clever.
NO TIME FOR CD FORMAT - JUST VINYL !
You may not be aware of this, but Dave Clark (of the Dave Clark 5 fame) owns the copyright on this Masterpiece and he won't let anyone issue it on compact discs - sooo, if you want it, sorry, VINYL ONLY. Dave's orders.
Just look at the line-up on this show which wasn't the super hit all hoped but is indeed an amazing WHO's WHO of the pop music world. Leo Sayer, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick ... Freddie Mercury ... not exactly a bunch of nobodies by anyone's ruling.
A Double album jammed with top artists, great songs and on a special, full-coloured "Time" label too. Great value and very collectable since Dave's said "No!" to the Compact Disc format.
Oh, Roger !
QUEEN'S ROGER TAYLOR'S SOLO EFFORT
is oh so, spooky .... Eeek! An Alien!
Roger Taylor's solo album "Fun In Space" is an excellent outing and a thrill to listen to.
Once again, the effort has been made to be different, note the Alien label in spooky colour - nice. So now we know were all our lost comics went - nicked by Aliens having fun in space. All humour adise, here is an album well worth checking out.
ALL (bar one) are in store right now if you want this one. Email us for details.
